I know this is beginning to sound like a broken record but I'm really sorry for the lack of updates in the last few weeks. This is because I am very busy working on International Cricket Captain 2000 (PC). Hopefully soon normal service can resume.

Sorry for the downtime of CricketGames.com. This was due to a dispute between myself and my provider CI Hosts. It grew out of a mis-undestanding of a bandwidth charge. Whilst I am allowed unlimited bandwidth for the site this does not include download files and I had too many downloads last month. This means I am going to have to locate downloads elsewhere which I am in the process of doing.

My downtime also included all email being bounced so if you sent me an email that bounced please resend it as I should now get it.

Because of the downtime I have had very little time to update the site this weekend. Most updates will now have to wait until next weekend.

Created a new web site - The Cricket Files and moved over 40 Mb of downloads on to it to reduce my downloads ratio. All links here on CricketGames.com should still work. If any don't please let me know.

If you are passionate about cricket and a good C++ programmer this could be the ideal job for you. If you are interested in this position please send details of your programming skills (CV), availability and cricketing knowledge. If you have written any cricket games (or other games) please send details. Do NOT send in samples of work (unless cricket games) until requested. Knowledge of 3D would be useful but not essential. The International Cricket Captain team have their own dedicated offices in central London. I am already working for Empire so can answer any questions you may have or forward them to the relevant people.

If anyone tried to read CricketGames.com earlier this weekend and got the 'this page is not available' message this was due to a major routing failure in the States (where the pages are located).

I have now had one correct answer to the CricketGames.com Competition to win Internet Test Cricket. If no-one else gets it right then that person (who has been notified) wins. One small clue - the answer has nothing to do with cricket.

I have hopefully fixed the Enter link in the Competition to win Internet Test Cricket. Please let me know if you still get an error.

Discovered some problems with forms on this site not properly submitting. Have now (hopefully) changed all forms to use a non FrontPage script. If you now get any errors saying FrontPage Component required please let me know.

In fixing the two above problems I have now removed all reliance on FrontPage Server Extensions being required. I will still use FrontPage to manage the site but now no longer have to Publish from it. In future I will use Site Publisher which is much quicker uploading and more efficient at updating files.

Finally persuaded CI Host to create me a new account as the server I was originally allocated seems to be broken and they still have not fixed it. All this messing trying to get the site working means I have not had time to do any additions to the site. Hopefully the situation is now resolved and the pages will be stable. When I first moved to Web 2010 there were initial problems but once sorted the service was on the whole very good.

Well so much for the hopeful transparent change of servers. Web 2010 decided to nuke my pages and only after several emails and expensive trans-atlantic phone calls did they restore the pages which they claim I asked them to remove which is total rubbish. CI Host then decided to take technical support to the lowest levels possible by being totally incompetent and breaking my account for 5 days so I had no access to it. I dread to think of the phone bill for calls to their so called customer support as emails went totally answered. It is all very well for these American companies to offer toll-free support but that does not help foreign customers like me. Surely Internet companies should be able to handle things via e-mail! Even now the situation is not fully resolved and I'm not sure whether the Internic changes so that CricketGames.com points to CI Host rather than Web 2010 have been set in motion.

CricketGames.com has moved servers. Hopefully the move will have been transparent to most people. Web 2010 where CricketGames.com has been for the last year only provided 50Mb which was proving restricting. CI Host where CricketGames.com is now offers much more space and facilities which I hope to start taking advantage of soon. One of the consequences of the move is that the Guest Book has been cleared - maybe this is not a bad thing considering how inappropriate for this site recent entries have been.

Finally got around to sorting through the masses of emails I had built up over the last few months. A lot of the Hints 'n' Tips and Wish Lists got rejected (especially for Cricket World Cup 99) as they were very similar to existing ones.

On the subject of emails the number of what I consider pointless/irrelevant emails are on the increase. Please read the Feedback section for more details of which emails I will ignore and why.

Due to the fact there are 2 Playstation games currently under development I have created a new Playstation Games section. I have split the Brian Lara Cricket and Shane Warne Cricket '99 pages into PC and Playstation versions. The Playstation games under development will appear in Games Under Development until they are released.

Happy New Year, Year 2000 but not Happy New Millennium (I refuse to follow the crowd and will celebrate the proper start of the millennium on 31st December 2000) to all readers of CricketGames.com. CricketGames.com has now been around for 17 months and whilst other cricket computer games sites have come and gone CricketGames.com is now the only site that is regularly updated. According to the site stats there are on average 4000 pages requests each day and about 800 unique hits on this index page each day.

Well my contract in the Isle of Man finished just before Christmas so I hope to be able to dedicate a bit more time to this site and the continued development of Internet Test Cricket. I hope to get a shareware version released as soon as possible but practically this is not likely to be for at least a month.

Whilst I was away I received a lot of Hints, Wish Lists, Cheats, etc. for the various games on this site. One thing I notice is that nearly all of them are the same or very similar to existing ones. With Wish Lists and Hints I will only add things that are new. Please check carefully existing entries before posting. Hopefully in next few days can sift through them all and add anything that is new.

The arranged Chat has now finished. It was actually very disappointing. Only a few people turned up and some of them are people I normally see on line. Am I wasting my time? There is another one arranged for tomorrow at 11 am GMT so please drop in if you can. One thing to note is that sometimes the chat applet shows no people present when in fact there are so it is always best to enter the chat room to check.

With regrards the Chat Room it has been been mentioned in the Forum that no one has yet to meet anyone else. This is the case with me - someone did once come in but left before I had finished typing in Hello. When I am online I tend to leave it open. My handle is TortyFoo which those who know me from ICQ/IRC will recognise. I have changed the Chat link so it opens in a separate window so you can click on it when you first enter the site but continue surfing whilst waiting for people to join.

It is probably best to try and arrange a time for a chat. For me it is best at the weekend. I therefore suggest 11 a.m. (GMT) on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th. This should mean it is early evening in Aus and later evening in NZ so hopefully suitable to most people. I will try and contact a few other cricket site webmasters to see if they can also be available for this time. Hope to see you there.

Made some changes to the CricketGames.com web site.

I have changed the forum to an external one powered by Bravenet. The standard FrontPage one I currently use is rather boring. It also made publishing the pages slower. I hope this new forum will prove successful. One disadvantage of changing the forum is all the current messages are lost. To enter the forum in future click on the button.

I have added a Chat room again powered by Bravenet. You can use this to chat to other people currently viewing CricketGames.com. I will also publish time I will be in the chat room and also try to arrange chats. A couple of points to note. To use the Chat applet you must have a Java compatible browser and also once in the Chat room if you browse off the Chat page it disconnects you from the chat so to continue browsing you need to open up a second window. To enter the Chat room in future click on the button.

I have added an ICQ Status indicator. This will show whether I am currently on-line and connected to ICQ. Note that to add me to your contact lists I need to authorise you so please tell me who you are, whether you are a registered user of ITC, etc. If I get no reason I will not authorise you.

I have finished judging the entries for the Empire ICC 2 Competition.

Also has a page listing all Test matches with links to on-line scorecards which to me is invaluable. Updated regularly and a ZIP file available to download whole site for off line viewing. Please send the webmaster Paul comments if you like the site so he continues it. Also maybe if he gets enough support he might consider doing an equivalent page for One Day Internationals. I don't normally promote sites but I am biased as I would like Paul to do a One Day version :-)

Changed the rules slightly, for those site with less than 1,000 visitors a month you will initially only get an order form that allow mailed orders only (credit card payment is still valid but not online) due to factors involved in setting up a secure order page.

Closing date for Empire Competition to win International Cricket Captain 2 has been extended to Saturday, 7 August as not yet received all selected teams. I have only received a few entries for this competition which is very disappointing.

Closed CricketGames.com Graphics Competition. The overall winner was Ken Daniels for his excellent CricketGames.com banner (see top of page). I have succeeded in my search for a affiliate program with a company selling games online that includes cricket games. The WHSmiths online sites sell computer games, books (it is The Internet Bookshop), music CD's and videos. To order anything please click on the links at the top of the page. Note I only get commission if you order via these links so for any repeat orders please click from my pages as well :-)

The cricket games available from GamesParadise are Brian Lara Cricket (PC and PSX), Battle for the Ashes 99, Cricket 96, Cricket 97 Ashes Tour Edition, Cricket Ashes Tour, Cricket World Cup 99 and Shane Warne Cricket (older version not 99). I am hoping they will get International Cricket Captain 2 when it is available. They will export to the US and other countries. Prices are listed in sterling but an approximate amount in other currencies is always shown further down the product page.

I have removed the old links to Amazon and Beyond as no one had ordered anything from them :-(

A quick word about submitting feedback to the site. Feedback saying game x is c**p will just be ignored. When sending feedback, which I do want, please try and say something that people may want to know AND has not been mentioned before. For a review it is of course perfectly acceptable to mention good or bad points that have been mentioned before.

Quite a big update as I finally got round to sorting out all the emails I have been sent in the last few weeks.

Caught Behind is currently running a poll between Brian Lara Cricket and Cricket World Cup 99. Despite the high amount of feedback I have had which is anti Cricket World Cup 99 the results are very close. Current totals are 324 votes cast, CWC 99 161 votes and BLC/SWC 99 163 votes.

Cricket Zone is also running a poll on the contact page for the best game out of Australian Cricket Captain, Brian Lara Cricket/Shane Warne Cricket 99, Cricket 97, Cricket 97 Ashes Tour Edition, Cricket World Cup 99, International Cricket Captain and World Cup Cricket (which game is this?). Only 23 votes to date but currently CWC 99 and BLC/SWC 99 are tied for 1st place.

The observant among you may have noticed a slight change at the top of every page. There are now links to Amazon.co.uk. I have joined their associate program which means if you follow the link above and order a book I get 5% from the sale. So if you want to order any books I recommend Amazon. Please always use the links on my page rather than going direct to Amazon. I only get the 5% if you select the link every time you place an order. The prices are exactly the same. Occasionally I may add specific cricket related titles which I feel may be of interest. The joining of the associate program is obviously some a way of trying to gain some income from the site to pay for its upkeep. If anyone knows any other associate programs run by other sites please let me know. I am especially keen to get a software related one so I can include order details for cricket games and ideally make a small percentage off the sales.

Due to a combination of me being away for several days and severe computer problems (modem is suddenly refusing to work at a decent speed so I am getting BT Home Highway installed whilst it is half price but that won't be done for 8 days) this site will not be updated. On my return I hope to have a review of EA Cricket World Cup 99. During this time I will also only have occasional access to email so don't worry if you don't get a quick reply to any emails you send. I will deal with them when I can.

Now a small rant on the subject of emails as I am getting increasing numbers of what I consider irrelevant emails which take too much of my time to reply to and 99% of the time I can not help or the person has not been bothered to read the information on the relevant pages. From now on emails similar to the ones below will just be ignored. If you consider this rude tough you have now been warned! Also why are so many of these emails not even polite, nearly always written totally in CAPITALS (that is considered shouting and very bad netiquette for those that don't yet know that) and use R and U instead of proper words which I personally hate. Normal accroynms like AFAIK and IMHO are okay.

In short think before sending that email off. I have said this before but it seems to have to repeat myself again. I work full time and so have limited time to maintain this site. The more time I have to spend dealing with trivial emails the less time I have available to update the site and continue development of ITC and Cricket Manager. I know a lot of people visiting this site are less than 18 so may not fully appreciate how little time working leaves you with but just accept that it does.

The hassle with the PC and too many stupid emails this week has nearly made me reduce this site back to just an ITC site. It is a sad fact that a few always have to spoil it for the majority.

I have been away on holiday (long weekend) hence the lack of updates. There has been a very small minority sending emails demanding why the site has not been updated. Please remember I have a full time job involving computers so don't always want to switch the home PC on in my limited spare time available. I am also going away again for the next few days (work this time) so probably won't be able to update again before Sunday.

I have been playing around with the theme I use for the site. I feel this more green orientated theme looks vastly superior to the old version. Let me know what you think of the new look.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the last week. Over the extended Easter holiday we had lots of friends staying over so there was little time available to use the PC. What little time I did have I used to create the Questionnaire response program and playing Heroes of Might and Magic III which is too addictive (wish I could say the same about Brian Lara Cricket). Anyway I hope to get back to normal now and do daily updates as far as possible.

The number of responses to the Questionnaire now tops 150. Thanks for all the entries - I have read every single one. As a result I have created a program that parses all these responses. I have also created an Analysis page where I list the common answers and give some replies to them. Please read this page and send feedback. Several attempts to publish to Web2010 failed yesterday even though they claim to have fixed the problem. This they may well have done so but it has meant the entire site needed to be uploaded again which takes several hours and unfortunately my connection is not always that reliable.

I have hopefully now got the whole site back up and running. I am sorry for the confusion over the last 5 days but it has been due to circumstances beyond my control. If there are any broken links remaining on the pages please let me know. One of the consequences of the problem solving is that the forum has had to be cleared.

Fixed links to Anil Kumble's Googly Cricket Challenge, Anil Kumble's Googly Cricket Quiz and Anil Kumble's Googly World Cup by Stumpvision. The problem was due to the files being in upper case and the links in lower case. On a PC that is fine as it is not case sensitive but on a Unix machine such as the one the pages are hosted on it is.

The new server at Web2010 does seem faster than the old one. I am certainly impressed and other people have mentioned it to me as well.

CricketGames.com has now moved on to it new server hosted at Web2010 which offers unlimited bandwidth. WebFusion offered an excellent service at a very good price if you stayed within their bandwidth limit of 1.5 Gb. Unfortunately (or fortunately) CricketGames.com was too popular :-)

Taken this opportunity to re-organise the site a bit. Webmasters who linked to internal pages may find their links no longer work and will need to be updated.

Split the Shareware list into Freeware and Shareware lists. Merged the Other list into the Commercial list. Added the Online and Under Development lists to the Complete list. Also removed secondary Games news section as it was always a repeat of the main news. News here now has links to game involved directly rather than to the Games section news. Updated all main news to reflect this change.

First some bad news - As a result of lack of money I have had to give up the idea of working full time on this site and Cricket Manager and go back into full time employment (I start tomorrow). This may mean updates to the site may not be as often as I would like although I will endeavour to keep the site updated at least once a week. I had hoped I could fund myself but registrations of International Test Cricket have slowed down and sales of the CricketGames.com CD-ROM have been disappointing.

I have fallen foul of the bandwidth limits of my web provider. I have a transfer limit of 1.5Gb per month which was exceed on 26 December. I have to pay £25 per month per additional 500Mb transferred which perversely is more than the normal monthly charge of £19.95. If this continues in January I will have to do something to address this situation or look for another provider as I want CricketGames.com to be able to grow. This index page has received over 6000 hits this month alone. Fixed download link for Cricket Supreme which was invalid, thanks to Arijit Sen (who was first of several people) for pointing this out. How come then only one person reported the invalid link for Virtual Cricket which is a far superior simulation!

If anyone has had problems accessing this site over the last few days I am very sorry but it is due to circumstances beyond my control. The backbone provider for my web pages had both their redundant lines fail and their major line had routing problems. This has hopefully now been fixed with the installation of a new router.

After saying that World Cricket was the worst cricket game ever Ken Daniels claims he has a cricket game, Howzat World Cricket Quest, that is even worse. I have never heard of this game so if anyone else has experiences of it please send them in. Ken is sending me the game so I can review it for these pages but it will take a few weeks to arrive as he is based in New Zealand and I am in the UK.

Has anyone heard of a game called International Cricket Challenge? It was published by Spectre Software in 1991 and may well have been only an Australian release. I have got this game but it was originally released on 5¼" disk and was copy protected so the copy I have on 3½" disk does not work. If you have got this please send me details or better still if you have got a version installed that does not require copy protection send me a copy. I have the original disks and manual but can not play the game.
