Orange Free State v West Indies, Bloemfontein

Orange Free State won the toss and elected to bat first on a fairly good batting pitch with a few cracks. The West Indies attack had no problem knocking down the top half of the team but the tail enders gave the Orange Free State a more respectable score of 208 all out. Beukes was the only Free State batsmen to get past fifty. He finished unbeaten on 55. Dillon was the pick of the bowlers with 5/59 from 16 overs. Earlier in the day Hansie Cronje the South African captained was out for a golden duck.

Orange Free State had a weakened bowling attack without Allan Donald who was rested before the first test. The West Indies were dismissed for 372 runs. Brian Lara was the top scorer with 185 runs from just 228 balls. The bowlers struggled on a pitch that should have favoured them. Nicky Boje was the leading wicket take with figures of 4/104. Mpitsang also took 3/88. The West Indies finished with a first innings lead of 164 runs.

Orange Free State were then bowled out for a very good 281. Thanks to a century by Wilkinson who was out for 113. Hansie Cronje went out for 9 and was very disappointed. Ambrose and Dillon took 3 wickets each. Ramnarine and McLean took 2 wickets each.

West Indies were set 118 runs to win and they did in 38.4 overs. None of the batsmen really got in as the West Indies lost 4 wickets. The leading bowler was van Der Wath who took 2 wickets.

In the end the West Indies won the game by 6 wickets and the man of the match was Dillon who finished the game with 8 wickets. The West Indies are looking good going into the first test in Johannesburg.
